Sydney Region

Contact – Adrian Kladnig ACA.Sydney@climb.org.au

Sydney is a vast metropolis intertwined with pockets of native bush land. Amoungst this bushland are hundreds of minor climbing areas that are used mainly by local climbers. There are numerous city councils controlling individual climbing areas plus National Park controlled land along much of the coastline, including the Sydney Harbor “Heads”, Ku-ring-gai Chase and Royal National Park. Aboriginal heritage is a major access issue throughout the Sydney area, especially in cave areas.

Identifying Aboriginal Sites in Sydney

Six councils in Northern Sydney have teamed up to create a local Aboriginal Heritage Office. Their website is a great resource on information relating to Aboriginal heritage sites and how to identify them.

Barrenjoey Crag Care

For several years a team of volunteer climbers have helped with weeding and bush regeneration in the Barrenjoey climbing area in Northern Sydney. Find out more info on their website here.
